Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: I already applied last month. Can I apply again?
A: Yes, you can apply again even if you have previously applied. However, due to a high number of applications and limited financial resources, we cannot guarantee that your application will be granted.

Q: I want to apply. When are the applications open?
A: The application period starts from the 1st until the 3rd of each month only. We do not accept applications outside of this period. Please refer to the Get Help page for more information.

Q: How much money can I apply for?
A: There is a maximum amount available per application. You can find the amount on the Get Help page when the applications are open, or in the official application form on top of the page.

Q: Can I apply via email outside of the application period?
A: No, we cannot accept applications via email or social media. We only accept applications that are submitted during the application period via the official form.

Q: Can I apply for a friend?
A: No. For security reasons and to avoid fraud, we require that the person in need of the funds applies directly to us with their personal information. However, you can absolutely assist your friend in writing and submitting the application.

Q: I am an undocumented person. Can I also apply?
A: Yes, you can. If you are undocumented, please mention it in your application and apply together with your local organization for undocumented individuals.

Q: What are the requirements for the application?
A: Our requirements for a full application are:

  • Your full name as it is written on your ID, passport or other official documents
  • Your date of birth
  • Country of the passport and country of residence
  • Description of your situation (a minimum of ten sentences is required) and description of the expenses
  • Gender identity and/or sexual orientation
  • How much money you need and the currency you need it in
  • Whether you’ve applied previously
  • How you found Trans Safety Emergency Fund, e.g. social media, Google, word of mouth, etc

Please note that if your application is incomplete or fraudulent, it will be rejected without justification. A complete and accurate application makes it easier for us to assess and review each application as fairly as possible.

Q: I’m not sure what information to provide in the description section. What should I focus on?
A: Let us know who you are, your current situation in detail, and why you need the funds. The more you tell us about your situation, the better and easier for us to assess and review your application. A minimum of ten sentences is required, otherwise, your application will be considered incomplete and will be rejected without justification.

Q: Can I apply several times within the same application period?
A: No, we only accept one application per person during the same application period. If you apply several times or with different email addresses, your applications will not be considered. If you applied multiple times by accident, please notify us at info@transsafety.fund

Q: I applied through the form, but I have not received a confirmation.
A: Please make sure that you have used the correct email address for your application. Normally, you will receive a confirmation email immediately after you submit your application. Please check the spam folder for your email.

Q: I have applied several times previously, and I did not get accepted any of the times. Why is that?
A: We receive more than a hundred applications within the three days of each application period. Due to limited financial resources, we have to prioritize our applications by urgency and impact. We try to help as many people as possible with the available funds we have, but sadly, we cannot fund all the applications we receive.

Q: I want to send you pictures and documents, but it is not possible to upload them on the form. Can I email them to you?
A: No, please do not send any pictures or documents without us requesting them. If we require any documents from you, we will send you a secure way to share files.

Q: What do you do with my personal information after I apply?
A: Please check our data protection page for more information.

Q: We’re an organization that helps LGBTQI+ people. Can we apply for funds?
A: For the moment, we are only able to financially support Trans individuals, and not organizations, with emergency funds. If you have an idea for collaboration, please don’t hesitate to contact us on info@transsafety.fund.
